Snooker legend John Virgo’s passing has been attributed to a ruptured aorta, as confirmed after his sudden demise at the age of 79. Virgo, renowned for his success in the 1970s and 1980s, notably clinched the 1979 UK Championship and reached the semi-finals of the World Championship in the same year.

In the 1990s, he gained widespread recognition for co-hosting Big Break with comedian Jim Davidson, becoming a familiar face on TV screens across the nation. Known as the voice of snooker, Virgo enjoyed a distinguished career as a commentator on the BBC, with his famous catchphrase “where’s the cue ball going?” a trademark of his broadcasting style.

Virgo, who resided in Spain with his wife Rosie, received heartfelt tributes following his passing. Described as the love of Rosie’s life and best friend, Virgo’s legacy extended beyond his professional achievements.
