Former England manager Steve McClaren has resigned as the head coach of Jamaica following their unsuccessful World Cup qualifying campaign, which left his counterpart in tears. McClaren, who famously missed out on Euro 2008 qualification, expressed the need for a fresh approach to lead the team forward.
Jamaica’s hopes were dashed after a goalless draw against Curacao, the smallest nation to reach the World Cup. McClaren, visibly emotional after the loss, saw Curacao top Group B undefeated, earning a spot alongside CONCACAF teams Panama and Haiti.
Curacao, with a population of 156,115, defied the odds despite their coach Dick Advocaat’s absence during the crucial match. McClaren’s Jamaica, featuring players like Rico Henry and Mason Holgate, fell short of securing a World Cup berth despite high expectations.
Following a devastating hurricane in Jamaica, McClaren aimed to bring positivity but fell short of qualifying. Sky has announced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the upcoming season, offering more than 1,400 live matches, including 215 live Premier League games.
