Tennis icon Roger Federer has joined the billionaire club following his retirement in 2019. The 44-year-old Swiss maestro, known for his 20 Grand Slam singles titles, now boasts a reported net worth of $1.1 billion (£813 million), as per Forbes.
Federer’s financial success can be attributed to his lucrative endorsement deals, appearances, and business ventures. Notably, his stake in the Swiss brand On, where he owns around three percent of the company, has significantly contributed to his billionaire status. On, valued at nearly $15 billion (£11.1 billion) after being listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2021, has propelled Federer’s wealth to over $375 million (£277.3 million).
Beyond On, Federer has amassed substantial earnings from sponsorships with renowned brands like Lindt, Mercedes-Benz, Rolex, Moet & Chandon, Nike, and Uniqlo, totaling around $1 billion (£739 million) in pre-tax income.
With this achievement, Federer becomes one of only eight sports personalities to reach billionaire status, with his wealth rivaling other legends like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Tiger Woods. The late Junior Bridgeman, a former basketball star, also left behind an estimated fortune of $1.4 billion (£1 billion) upon his passing in March.
