A notorious gang leader in north Dublin, Eamon Dunne, also known as “The Don,” has been linked to a series of violent crimes, including orchestrating multiple murders, even targeting his own associates.
Among his infamous acts, Dunne was implicated in the murder of Martin “Marlo” Hyland, his former mentor and crime boss, in 2006. This assassination involved gunmen breaking into Hyland’s residence, resulting in Hyland being shot multiple times while he slept, along with an innocent bystander, Anthony Campbell.
Another high-profile incident tied to Dunne was the execution of John Daly in 2007, right after Daly’s release from prison. Daly, who had challenged a journalist on national radio, was gunned down in what was believed to be a retaliatory strike.
Dunne’s reign of terror continued with suspicions of involvement in the killing of John Paul Joyce, whose body was found in a ditch near Dublin Airport. As Dunne’s violent tendencies escalated, he was described by law enforcement as a psychopath ruling through fear and intimidation.
In a dramatic turn of events, Dunne met his own demise in 2010 at a birthday party when gunmen stormed the venue, fatally shooting him in the presence of his daughter. Despite arrests made in connection with the attack, no one has been convicted, leaving the murder unsolved.
The killing of Dunne left a trail of chaos and fear in the criminal underworld, with observers characterizing him as a ruthless and paranoid figure consumed by drug-fueled aggression in his final days.
