Tommy Fleetwood expressed his approval of Brooks Koepka’s comeback to the PGA Tour and mentioned that LIV Golf has not approached him during this postseason. Koepka recently left the Saudi-backed tour and is set to participate in the Farmers Insurance Open, marking his return to the PGA Tour.
With Koepka’s move back to the PGA Tour, LIV Golf faces the challenge of retaining other key players like Patrick Reed, who has hinted at a potential return as well. Fleetwood, currently ranked No.3 globally, praised the PGA Tour for its exceptional events and substantial prize money, emphasizing his gratitude for being a part of it.
Fleetwood, who earned $10 million by winning his first PGA Tour event last year, now aims for his first Major victory. He stressed the importance of aligning goals and dreams with one’s playing environment, highlighting the individual choices made by players like Koepka to maximize their potential.
LIV Golf, supported by the Public Investment Fund of Newcastle, made significant investments in previous seasons, signing lucrative deals with players like Koepka and Jon Rahm. The current season sees less high-profile signings, with new additions like Victor Perez and Laurie Canter joining the roster.
Despite being a sought-after player, Fleetwood revealed that LIV Golf has not approached him recently, acknowledging the shifts in the golfing landscape as some top players opt to join alternative tours. Fellow golfer Shane Lowry commended Koepka’s swift return to the PGA Tour and emphasized the positive impact it would have on the tour’s smaller events.
Lowry also reflected on his recent performance at the Dubai Invitational, expressing a desire to move past a disappointing finish.
