“Trainer & Jockey Brothers Triumph in Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase”

A trainer, managing only two horses, achieved a significant victory alongside his jockey brother as Oscars Brother triumphed in the Boodles Florida Pearl Novice Chase at Punchestown.

This Grade Two race featured entries from prominent Irish stables like Gordon Elliott and Henry de Bromhead, as well as Rocky’s Diamond, who finished fourth in the 2025 Stayers’ Hurdle.

Despite facing tough competition, Connor King, the handler, outperformed them all with Oscars Brother, expertly guided by his brother and jockey, Daniel, around the County Kildare track.

Always leading the pack, Oscars Brother, the 7-4 favorite, showcased impeccable jumping skills and finished three lengths ahead of De Bromhead’s Koktail Divin.

Prior to the three-mile race on soft to heavy ground at Punchestown, Oscars Brother had a preparatory run in a novice chase at Galway.

The duo now aspires to develop Oscars Brother into a Grade One contender at their stable, which currently houses only one other racehorse in training.

Describing the win, Daniel expressed his delight, stating, “It’s class,” during an interview with Racing TV, highlighting the joy of securing a victory for his brother.

“He’s a fantastic horse under my brother’s training and my riding. Despite the small field, it was a competitive race. Our horse is progressing well, and we believed that with improvement, he could have a shot at winning,” Daniel added.

When asked about the next race, Daniel deferred the decision to the trainer, saying, “This was his target, he showed a good attitude. I’ll leave (the next race) up to the trainer!”

Connor, a former jockey, mentioned the possibility of entering Oscars Brother in the Grade One Faugheen Novices’ Chase at Limerick over the Christmas period, emphasizing the horse’s successful transition from hurdles to chasing.

Reflecting on the future, Connor recalled last year’s race with only three runners and expressed his eagerness to aim for similar prestigious events in the upcoming seasons.
