Britons are preparing for an impending wave of wintry weather, as a 330-mile snowfront is anticipated to sweep across the nation.
New weather projections from WXCharts, utilizing data from Met Desk, indicate a significant snowstorm spanning 330 miles that will impact Britain in the coming days. Sub-zero temperatures are expected to descend on much of the country on December 5, with snowfall predicted in Aberystwyth, Wales, around 3pm.
The snow band is projected to extend from north Wales to Aviemore in Scotland by 6pm on the same day. The forecast suggests up to five inches of snowfall in northern Wales and around one inch in various areas of Scotland.
The weather forecasts also suggest challenging conditions for many in the UK, with southern England, the West Midlands, the North West, and Wales likely to face heavy rainfall. Northern Ireland and southwestern Scotland are also expected to be affected.
The Met Office has issued warnings for rainy periods leading up to Friday, mentioning occasional brighter intervals. In its extended forecast, the Met Office anticipates heavy rainfall in certain regions.
The outlook from December 6 to December 15 indicates a continuation of unsettled conditions with showers or prolonged rain affecting most parts of the country. A frontal system on Saturday may bring heavy rain, especially in exposed hilly areas, followed by brighter spells with possible heavy and thundery showers.
Looking ahead to Christmas, there is a chance of hill snow, primarily in the north, between December 16 and December 30. The Met Office suggests near or slightly above-average temperatures, although colder spells could occur if prolonged settled weather patterns emerge.
