British households are set to receive a boost in their finances soon. The Department for Work and Pensions will be providing an extra £10 to eligible beneficiaries as part of the annual Christmas Bonus payment.
This special one-time payment of £10 will be automatically distributed to individuals who are currently receiving qualifying benefits like Carer’s Allowance, Pension Credit, and Personal Independence Payments (PIP), among others, offering additional support during the holiday season.
Recipients do not need to submit an application as the payment will be processed automatically. The funds are expected to be deposited into bank accounts in early December, ahead of the festive period. Those who are eligible can anticipate seeing the payment reflected in their accounts.
In case an eligible individual has not received the payment by the end of December, the Department for Work and Pensions advises contacting them starting from January 1, by which time all payments should have been completed.
To be eligible for the Christmas Bonus from the Department for Work and Pensions, individuals must be receiving one of the specified benefits during the designated week, usually the first full week of December.
For individuals in a married couple, civil partnership, or cohabiting relationship, both partners will receive the Christmas Bonus if they each claim a qualifying benefit. Additionally, if one partner does not receive a qualifying benefit, they may still be eligible for the Christmas Bonus if both partners are over the State Pension age by the end of the qualifying week and the partner is also present in select regions.
To qualify, the partner must either be receiving Pension Credit or be entitled to an increase in a qualifying benefit for their partner. The Christmas Bonus is automatically distributed to all eligible individuals, so there is no need to apply for it.
