Verstappen Cleared After Hamilton Overtake Drama

Max Verstappen managed to avoid a penalty following a post-race investigation by Formula 1 stewards after the Hungarian Grand Prix. The incident in question occurred on lap 29 of the race when Verstappen made a bold move on Lewis Hamilton at turn four, resulting in the Ferrari driver taking evasive action off track.

Although there was no contact between the cars, race control took note of the incident and decided to investigate further after the Grand Prix concluded. Both Verstappen and Hamilton were summoned to provide their perspectives on the incident, with Hamilton choosing not to attend.

After reviewing the situation, the stewards determined that Verstappen did not force Hamilton off track illegally during the overtake. Verstappen explained that he had the momentum to make the move and could have left space for Hamilton, but the latter went off track, leading to no contact between the cars.

As a result, no further action was taken against Verstappen. In the race, Verstappen finished ninth, earning two points for Red Bull, while Hamilton finished 12th and one lap down after a challenging weekend.

The Hungarian Grand Prix was won by Lando Norris, who secured his fifth win of the season and third victory in four Grands Prix. Norris managed to hold off his teammate Oscar Piastri, with George Russell taking third place in his Mercedes. Norris now sits just nine points behind Piastri in the championship standings as they head into the summer break.
