A day meant for celebration turned tragic as a six-year-old girl was reportedly killed by her jealous aunt at a wedding. The aunt’s alleged motive was to prevent anyone from appearing more beautiful than her. Shockingly, she confessed to previous murders of three children, including another niece and her own son.
Authorities described the accused as a potential psychopath who believed no child in her family should outshine her beauty. The incident took place in Panipat, India, where the woman, identified as Poonam, is accused of drowning her young niece, Vidhi, in a water tub during a family gathering.
Vidhi, who had traveled to the wedding with her family, tragically went missing, leading to a frantic search that ended with her grandmother discovering her lifeless body in a nearby storeroom. Despite efforts to save her at a nearby medical facility, Vidhi could not be revived.
Reports indicate that Poonam also confessed to the killings of four children, including her sister-in-law’s daughter and her own son. Another incident in a nearby location involving the alleged murder of a young girl was also linked to her jealousy.
The woman is currently in custody, awaiting official charges. This heartbreaking event follows another tragic incident where a groom collapsed and died while dancing with his bride at their wedding reception, leaving guests in shock and grief.
