Struggling families in Worcestershire are encouraged to verify their eligibility for potential energy bill support of up to £500. This assistance is being provided by Worcestershire County Council specifically for residents living in the county.
To qualify for this support, individuals must reside in Malvern, Worcester, Wychavon, Bromsgrove, Redditch, or Wyre Forest District, and have a gross annual household income of £24,570 or less if single without children. For all other households, the income threshold is set at £31,000, excluding any received benefits. Additionally, applicants must have no household savings and meet one of five vulnerability criteria, such as receiving DWP benefits, being of state pension age, or having young children under four years old.
Households with children under 18 or young adults up to 21 in full-time education could receive up to £500 in energy assistance, while other households may qualify for up to £300 in support. The energy payments will be disbursed either directly to the supplier or through Post Office vouchers for pre-payment customers. Applications for the program can be submitted through the Act On Energy website.
The energy support initiative is part of the Household Support Fund by Worcestershire County Council, aimed at aiding vulnerable families. Individuals outside Worcestershire facing financial difficulties are advised to inquire with their local council for available support options.
In a similar vein, Surrey County Council is distributing supermarket vouchers valued at up to £300, redeemable at various supermarkets including Aldi, Asda, Farmfoods, Iceland, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, and Waitrose. The scheme is open to Surrey residents over 18 years old with household savings not exceeding £2,000 over a 90-day period and an annual household income under £27,007.50 before taxes.
Nottingham City Council is offering £100 vouchers to low-income individuals or those on benefits, with distribution ongoing until February 28, 2026. Wakefield Council is providing food vouchers to households on low income and receiving council tax assistance. Pensioners receiving Council Tax Support have received a £70 voucher in November, with additional vouchers upcoming for other eligible households.
Families in receipt of Council Tax Support will receive a £50 voucher starting December 15, while all other eligible households will receive a £70 voucher between December 3 and December 12.
