Sky viewers who enjoy movie marathons are in for a change as the network is set to merge two of its services. Sky confirmed that Sky Cinema Animation (channel 312) will combine with Sky Cinema Family, consolidating into a single channel on April 30.
The move aims to streamline the viewing experience by providing a unified destination for family-friendly films on channel 304. Despite the consolidation, all content previously available on Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family.
Popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will now be conveniently located in one place for viewers to enjoy. While the standalone Sky Cinema Animation channel is being discontinued, it will make temporary returns during school holiday periods, including July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.
In other news, Sky has ventured into the home security market by introducing new smart devices. Customers can opt for a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront fee. This system offers features such as full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, two-way audio, and cloud video storage for 30 days.
For additional functionalities, Sky is providing a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ priced at £8 per month and a £20 upfront cost. This package includes an indoor camera and enhanced app controls, allowing scheduled arming and automatic device modes.
Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasized the company’s commitment to making premium smart technology more accessible. He highlighted the focus on essential customer features, ensuring ease of use, manageability, and affordability.
