“Topshop Makes High Street Comeback with John Lewis Partnership”

Topshop is making a comeback on the UK high street through a new collaboration with John Lewis. After shutting down its standalone stores in 2021, the renowned fashion brand is set to feature in all 32 department stores of John Lewis and on their website, with Topman available in seven of these locations.

This relaunch will showcase a curated collection of 130 highly sought-after Topshop pieces, including their iconic denim items. The decision to reintroduce Topshop at John Lewis follows successful pop-up events in various John Lewis stores and is part of an £800 million investment by John Lewis to introduce new brands for the upcoming spring/summer season.

Topshop and its sibling brand, Topman, exited the UK high streets when their former owner, Arcadia, went into administration in 2021. The brand is now under the ownership of ASOS, which previously sold Topshop products online. Topshop made a return to London’s Oxford Street last year through a launch at the prestigious department store, Liberty.

Michelle Wilson, the managing director of Topshop, expressed excitement about the collaboration with John Lewis, stating, “Today is about making it easier for customers to access the Topshop and Topman pieces they love. From our cult denim to new-season footwear, you can see it, feel it, and take it home the same day. Partnering with John Lewis brings Topshop back to high streets across the UK with the level of service our customers expect.”

The reintroduction of Topshop coincides with London Fashion Week and will be followed by a prominent presence at Piccadilly Circus in London, along with activations in other locations across the UK. This strategic move aligns with John Lewis’ efforts to enhance its growth trajectory as it continues to implement a significant transformation plan under the leadership of Peter Ruis.

Peter Ruis, the managing director of John Lewis, emphasized the brand’s commitment to elevating its fashion offerings, stating, “This moment marks a significant acceleration of our fashion ambition at John Lewis. To be the exclusive home of an iconic brand like Topshop, alongside other exciting new brands, signals our commitment to be the definitive style authority on the British high street.”

In addition to the reintroduction of Topshop, John Lewis is introducing 14 new fashion, jewelry, and accessory labels for the current season, further enhancing its fashion portfolio and solidifying its position as a leading style destination within the retail landscape.
