Police have discovered a body in a river during the search for a missing woman near a university. Jill Grint, aged 79, was last seen close to her residence in Earlham, Norfolk, at approximately 10:30 am on Friday. She was dressed in a blue coat, navy trousers, navy trainers, and carrying a yellow bag.
Authorities retrieved a woman’s body from the River Yare in Cringleford, Norfolk, this afternoon after citizens reported seeing it in the water. Despite awaiting formal identification, Jill’s family has been notified of the development.
Law enforcement has stated that the incident is not considered suspicious, and they will be preparing a report for the coroner. The Norfolk Constabulary confirmed, “The body of a woman has been found in the River Yare in Cringleford. The discovery was made today (6 December 2025) by members of the public. Although formal identification is pending, the family of 79-year-old Jill Grint, who was reported missing yesterday in Earlham, has been contacted. The death is not deemed suspicious, and a report will be compiled for the coroner.”
