Stellantis, the parent company of Chrysler, announced on Friday a global recall of more than 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickup trucks due to a seat belt issue. The recall affects Ram 1500 vehicles manufactured between 2019 and 2026 that may have a second-row center or driver side seat belt buckle anchor that was not correctly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. This defect could compromise the performance of the second-row seat belt system, increasing the risk of injury to occupants. While Stellantis is aware of one injury potentially linked to this issue, there have been no reported fatalities.
The recall encompasses 1.27 million vehicles in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and approximately 75,000 outside of North America. Stellantis will inform affected vehicle owners to contact dealers for inspection scheduling. Dealers will examine the second-row center and driver seat belt buckle anchors and, if necessary, ensure proper attachment to the vehicle’s body structure.
