Bulgaria has been recommended as the prime destination for an affordable summer escape this year, particularly for families. TravelSupermarket, a popular travel website, has identified Bulgaria as the most cost-effective country for all-inclusive sunshine vacations in 2026, with an average price of £760 per person for a week-long stay. Following closely behind are Morocco at £852 per person and Malta at £862 for seven nights.
The analysis was based on family holiday searches conducted between October 5 of the previous year and the present week, targeting travel dates between May and September 2026. It revealed significant price variations among popular vacation spots.
Among the 13 destinations compared, Bulgaria stands out as the most budget-friendly option, with prices decreasing by £54 per person or 7% compared to the previous summer. On the contrary, Cyprus emerged as the priciest choice at £1,186 per person.
Spain, including the Balearic and Canary Islands, secured the fourth spot with an average cost of £888 per person, maintaining similar prices to the previous year. Turkey ranked 11th at £1,057, and Greece followed in 12th place at £1,096.
Croatia is listed as the 10th most affordable destination this summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person. Notably, the price for a typical trip to Croatia has dropped by 12% from the previous year, making it £136 cheaper for this summer.
For long-haul travelers, Cape Verde offers the best value at £1,247 per person, trailed by the United Arab Emirates at £1,297, the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694.
Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, highlighted the appeal of Bulgaria as a top pick for budget-friendly all-inclusive getaways. He also noted that Tunisia and Morocco remain among the five most affordable countries, with Croatia becoming more accessible after a significant price decrease, making it a great option for families seeking a beautiful yet economical destination.
