Child murderers incarcerated at one of the UK’s infamous women’s prisons are slated to enjoy a holiday season filled with opera classes, gift exchanges, and movie screenings, as revealed by an insider.
Lucy Letby, Constance Marten, and Beinash Batool, all currently detained at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, may partake in festive activities and fun despite their heinous crimes. The inmates are expected to have a cozy Christmas with gifts funded by charity and workshops for signing, allowing them to indulge in mince pies and chocolates.
Letby, aged 35, is serving a life sentence for murdering seven infants and attempting to kill eight others while working as a nurse, housed in the prison’s enhanced Unit 4.
All prisoners at the notorious facility, including child murderers Marten, 38, and Batool, 31, are reportedly in for a comfortable December.
According to a prison source cited by The Sun, the holiday season at Bronzefield appears to be focused on comfort rather than punishment. The arrangements, especially for victims’ families, have stirred outrage due to the perceived leniency provided. The private prison maintains a relatively cushy environment throughout the year, with Christmas bringing added ease.
The inmates can anticipate various festive activities, including free Christmas cards for sending home through the ‘Jailbirds’ initiative linked to charity Barnardo’s. Additionally, charity PACT will provide gifts worth up to £20 for prisoners to send to their families.
Throughout December, quizzes, film screenings, and opera classes will be available at HMP Bronzefield. The prison chaplains are also set to distribute chocolates to each wing of the facility.
On Christmas day, the prisoners will enjoy a lavish feast featuring turkey, chicken, and an array of accompaniments, followed by a choice of yule log, ice cream, or pudding.
Letby and Batool, the latter imprisoned for the brutal murder of her 10-year-old stepdaughter Sara Sharif, are reported to have developed a friendship during their incarceration. According to insiders, the pair spend time conversing and playing cards, having bonded when Batool was placed on remand in the same secure wing where Letby is housed for her safety.
An insider mentioned, “Beinash and Lucy reside on the same wing along with other life sentence inmates. They spend their days together on the landing, engaged in card games and discussions. The child murderers tend to stick together for self-preservation, explaining their strong bond.”
