“Citroen and Vauxhall Recall Models Over Brake Safety Issue”

Citroen and Vauxhall have announced a recall for certain models including the C3, C3 Aircross, and Frontera due to a potential safety issue involving the brake pedals becoming detached. Citroen has taken proactive measures by implementing a ‘stop-drive’ action for customers who have received the latest C3 and C3 Aircross models.

Customers awaiting delivery of Vauxhall Fronteras will experience a delay as the vehicles are undergoing inspections before being dispatched. The recall was prompted by the discovery that right-hand-drive versions of Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross might have brake pedal boxes that do not meet the required specifications for UK vehicles, posing a risk of brake failure.

This recall marks the third ‘stop-drive’ action by the French automaker this year, following previous issues with faulty airbag units in specific models such as the C3, C4, DS3, DS4, and DS5.

A spokesperson from Citroen emphasized the company’s commitment to customer safety, stating that during routine quality checks, it was found that certain right-hand-drive Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross models could have pedal box assemblies that are not up to standard, potentially leading to brake failure. The spokesperson reassured customers that while the automatic emergency braking and electronic parking brake would remain functional in such an event, a stop-drive action is being initiated to ensure customer safety. Affected customers will be provided with replacement vehicles while their cars are inspected and any necessary corrections are made.

Stellantis, the parent company, has affirmed its dedication to promptly and transparently addressing the issue. Customers with concerns are encouraged to contact customer services or their local retailer for assistance. Vauxhall is unaffected by the recall as deliveries have not commenced, and vehicles are being thoroughly checked and, if needed, rectified.
