Dale Cregan, the convicted murderer of police officers and civilians, was transferred from prison to a hospital under tight security measures. Law enforcement officers were present during his nighttime relocation to Aintree University Hospital in Merseyside.
Photographs captured the heavy police presence outside the hospital as Cregan was transported for what appeared to be a scheduled medical appointment. Cregan is serving a life sentence for the brutal killings of David Short, Mark Short, Nicola Hughes, and Fiona Bone in a violent attack involving firearms and explosives in 2012.
Merseyside Police confirmed their presence at Aintree Hospital to provide assistance while Cregan received medical treatment on December 1st. The police have since left the hospital premises, as stated by the police department.
The Ministry of Justice declined to provide any comments regarding the situation. Previously, Cregan had been under armed guard at Manchester Eye Hospital due to a growth on his remaining eye. Whether his recent visit to Aintree was related to the same issue remains undisclosed. Cregan has claimed to have lost his left eye during a confrontation in Thailand.
Reports from the Manchester Evening News in 2013 revealed that a criminal gang had put a bounty on Cregan’s remaining eye. Allegedly, a crime family leader in southern England offered a substantial sum for the destruction of Cregan’s right eye while in prison, out of sympathy for the victims of Cregan’s crimes.
Cregan, while evading authorities after the murders, lured police officers to a house by falsely reporting a burglary and then coldly shot and killed PCs Nicola Hughes and Fiona Bone at close range in Mottram-in Longdendale, Tameside, in 2012. The violent incident involved Cregan firing multiple rounds from his weapon, causing shock and horror nationwide.
During the attack, Cregan shot the officers at point-blank range as they approached, with their lives saved only by their protective gear. Despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, the officers attempted to flee, but tragically, PC Hughes was left paralyzed and fatally wounded, while PC Bone bravely fought back before succumbing to her injuries.
