Human Remains Found in Prince Albert Search

Prince Albert authorities reported the discovery of human remains on Thursday while searching for a missing teenager who disappeared in June. The search, involving the city’s public works, fire departments, and Prince Albert Grand Council Search and Rescue, led to the finding of the body near the 300 block of 40th Street East, as confirmed by the police in a news release.

An autopsy is set for Tuesday to establish the identity of the deceased individual and determine the circumstances surrounding the death. The mother of the missing 14-year-old, Peyton Flett, named Danica Moore, revealed that the police informed her they suspect the body belongs to her daughter but declined to provide further details.

Authorities disclosed that the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service, alongside the police major crimes and forensic identification units, are jointly conducting an investigation into the suspicious death, as outlined in the release. The police, Prince Albert Grand Council, Shoal Lake Cree Nation, and Flett’s parents made a public appeal for information during a news conference on Wednesday in an effort to locate her.

The last known sighting of Flett was reported on June 16 or 17 at Marquis Road and Central Avenue near Northern Lights Casino. Police continue their investigation at the site of the discovery near 40th Street, focusing on a wooded area. Traffic restrictions are in place on the street, and the public is urged to avoid the area. Further updates will be provided as new information emerges.
