In the realm of notorious murderers, Russian cannibal Dmitry Luchin emerges as a particularly horrifying figure in history.
This brutal killer gained infamy in Russia after the shocking murder of his partner, Olga Budunova, in 2018. Luchin, then 23 years old, lured Budunova under the pretense of celebrating International Women’s Day. However, his true intentions turned out to be far more sinister. Following a moment of wine-sharing, Luchin viciously attacked Budunova, killing her with a bottle and proceeding to dismember her methodically with a cleaver. The subsequent events left even seasoned investigators in disbelief.
The deranged murderer reportedly roasted parts of Budunova’s brain before consuming them, accompanied by a glass of her blood drained from her lifeless body. He mutilated her body further by removing her stomach, cutting off her ears (placing one in her mouth and the other in the cat’s bowl), and inscribing insults on her with blood and purple nail polish.
Luchin, known to be associated with satanic beliefs and occult practices, used Budunova’s blood to draw devilish symbols on the door, aiming to summon Lucifer. Despite his satanic inclinations, he admitted to police that he tasted the cooked brain twice because he found it appealing.
Prosecutors revealed that Luchin had an unhealthy fascination with serial killers, dedicating hours to exploring macabre websites focused on murderers. During his trial, Luchin recited a peculiar poem from his confinement, claiming he was not a maniac, murderer, or cannibal but rather a student, sportsman, and poet.
Judge Alexey Stanovsky intervened when Luchin delved into discussions about infamous serial killer Andrei Chikatilo. Luchin was deemed mentally sound and convicted of murder with aggravating circumstances. He will serve a 19-year sentence in a strict-regime penal institution. Budunova’s neighbors, traumatized by the horrific events in her apartment, expressed profound shock, with one remarking, “It was like something out of a different reality. No ordinary person could commit such atrocities.”
