A 30-year-old teacher, Nicole Hernandez, also known as Nikki Baird, has been accused of engaging in sexual activities multiple times with a 17-year-old student, including in the back of her Jeep. The alleged incidents took place after the teacher met the boy at a middle school in Kansas and later reconnected at Wichita North High School, where she is said to have formed a close relationship with him and isolated him from others.
According to an affidavit, Hernandez was reported to have engaged in inappropriate physical contact with the student, such as touching his back and shoulders, before progressing to forced hugs and eventually sexual encounters starting in early 2024. The teacher allegedly shared personal details about her marital struggles with the victim, gave him her personal phone number, and bombarded him with affectionate messages, expressing a desire to be with him.
The relationship between Hernandez and the student continued to escalate, with them meeting off school grounds with parental approval, going on outings to places like an arts center where they engaged in intimate behavior. The student claimed that Hernandez encouraged physical contact and intimacy, instructing him to keep their relationship secret.
As the student’s graduation approached, Hernandez allegedly invited him into her office and made suggestive remarks, pressuring him to engage in sexual activities. On graduation night, the teacher reportedly coerced the student into having sex in her car, using manipulative tactics to justify their actions. The encounters continued even after the student graduated, with the pair meeting several times in the back of Hernandez’s Jeep.
The student eventually realized the inappropriate nature of the relationship and cut off contact with Hernandez, sharing evidence of their interactions with his family, who then involved investigators. Hernandez was arrested on May 22 and is set to appear in court on December 19 to face the charges against her.
