Some Android users are facing a concerning issue where their phone batteries are depleting rapidly even when not actively in use, following a recent software update. Numerous complaints have surfaced on forums, indicating a significant uptick in charging frequency to maintain screen functionality.
The battery problem seems to primarily impact Google’s Pixel phone series, with the company acknowledging the issue and actively seeking a solution.
Affected devices include the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A models.
According to reports from 9to5Google, the excessive battery drain is linked to continuous CPU activities, causing the phone to run in the background even when not actively used.
Users have expressed frustration over the issue, with one individual mentioning that their Pixel 7A has experienced battery depletion even when turned off and exhibiting slow charging speeds.
Another Pixel owner reported a similar experience with the Pixel 9 Pro XL, highlighting the need for frequent recharging due to battery drain post the March update.
However, not all Pixel users are encountering this issue, as some have confirmed normal battery performance despite the software updates.
Google is expected to address and resolve the problem promptly with an upcoming update. Updates on this matter will be provided as new information becomes available.
