“Earthquake Shakes Lancashire with ‘Loud Explosion'”

Reports indicate that a sudden “loud explosion” was heard during the occurrence of an earthquake in a region of England overnight.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) confirmed that a 3.3-magnitude earthquake struck Lancashire at 11.23 pm. The BGS received feedback mentioning that the tremor was felt in localities including Carnforth, Morecambe, Heysham, Burton-in-Kendal, and Arnside.

A statement from a representative of Lancaster Police on Facebook mentioned, “We were informed of a loud explosion in the Carnforth area at 11.23 pm on Wednesday night (December 3). A minor earthquake measuring 3.3 magnitude occurred in the vicinity near the border of Lancashire and Cumbria.”

The Lancaster Police, in collaboration with the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service, are present in the area following the incident. Authorities have not received any reports of injuries or damage. Citizens are urged to report any potential damage by contacting 101 and quoting log 1613 dated December 3.

The BGS noted that some individuals also reported feeling the earthquake in Blackpool, Cleveleys, and Kendal. Lancashire Police stated that there were no known injuries or damages resulting from the earthquake.

According to Sky News, the tremor was felt in various areas, mainly within a 20-kilometer radius of the epicenter, including Lancashire, Kendal, and Ulverston. Numerous individuals took to social media, responding to the Lancaster Police’s post, to share their experiences of feeling the tremor.
