The Metropolitan Police provided an update regarding the incident at Heathrow Airport earlier today. At 8.11 am on Sunday, officers responded to reports of a group being assaulted in a multi-storey car park at Terminal 3. A 31-year-old man was arrested and remains in police custody.
The London Ambulance Service treated 21 individuals, including a three-year-old girl, on the scene. Five people were hospitalized, with injuries deemed non-life-threatening. The investigation indicates that a woman had her belongings stolen by four men who allegedly used pepper spray.
The police believe that the incident, which occurred in a car park lift, was targeted and the parties involved were acquainted. Met Police Commander Peter Stevens stated that CCTV footage is being examined, and witnesses are being interviewed to understand the full circumstances. Passengers at the airport experienced delays as shuttle services were affected by congestion due to an earlier safety-related closure.
Heathrow Airport apologized for the inconvenience caused and confirmed that services have now resumed as usual. Individuals with information on the incident are urged to contact 101, quoting CAD 1803 7 DEC.
