“Okolie Blames Bicep Injury for Failed Drug Test”

Lawrence Okolie has suggested that a bicep injury may have led to his failed drug test, delaying his upcoming fight against Tony Yoka in Paris. Okolie’s promoter, Queensberry, revealed that he received an adverse finding from an anti-doping test conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association.

Taking to social media, Okolie explained that he suffered an elbow injury on the same arm as his previous bicep injury, attributing the situation to treatment he received. He expressed confidence in clearing his name and vowed to cooperate with relevant authorities.

Okolie and Yoka both participated in the 2016 Olympics in Rio, with Okolie competing in a different weight category. Despite not winning a medal, Okolie went on to become a world champion before transitioning to the heavyweight division.

Ahead of his scheduled bout with Yoka, Okolie stated that he feels strongest and most comfortable at heavyweight compared to his previous weight classes. He sees the fight as a significant opportunity and believes momentum is on his side against an experienced opponent like Yoka.
