A man driving a truck was sentenced to jail for causing the death of a young girl who was hit by his vehicle as she got off a bus. Stephen Worden, 61, will be in custody for 12 months and banned from driving for two years after the tragic incident that claimed the life of Millie Joy Gribble, a six-year-old girl. The court was informed that Millie succumbed to her injuries in the hospital six days after being struck by Worden’s truck in Bilsborrow, Lancashire.
During the sentencing at Preston Crown Court, Worden was found guilty of causing death by careless driving. He also faced charges of causing serious injury by dangerous driving but was acquitted after a trial. However, he pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving and causing serious injury by careless driving. Millie’s father, Joseph Gribble, expressed his deep grief over the loss of his daughter, describing her as his everything and mentioning the profound impact her absence has had on his life.
Millie’s mother, Sam Edmundson, shared heartfelt sentiments about her daughter, highlighting her vibrant personality and the immense love the family had for her.
