Billionaire Pledges Reward for Hero Who Disarmed Bondi Beach Gunman

A wealthy individual has pledged to reward the courageous individual who disarmed one of the assailants at Bondi Beach. Authorities responded to a shooting incident at Bondi Beach around 6:40 pm local time on Sunday, December 14. Two individuals were firing a gun into a crowd when police arrived, leading to an exchange of gunfire. Two officers were injured, and one of the shooters, a 50-year-old man, was fatally shot by the police. The other shooter, identified as Naveed Akram, sustained critical injuries and was hospitalized under police supervision.

The attackers allegedly targeted a Jewish Hanukkah event, resulting in the deaths of at least 16 people and injuring 40 others. Ahmed al Ahmed, hailed as a hero by his relatives, was captured on video confronting one of the gunmen and seizing the rifle during the altercation.

In response to the viral video of Ahmed al Ahmed’s brave actions, Bill Ackman, a Jewish investment banker with a net worth exceeding $9.5 billion, expressed a desire to reward the father-of-two fruit shop owner. Ackman took to social media to call for setting up a verified fund to support Ahmed and his family.

Ahmed remains hospitalized following surgery for gunshot wounds to his arm and hand. Authorities have cordoned off a significant crime scene around Bondi Beach and nearby roads, with the Joint Counter Terrorism Team launching an investigation. Three firearms found at the scene will undergo forensic analysis as part of the ongoing inquiries.
