Authorities have cordoned off the area as flames are visible in the upper levels of a building in the Heaton district.
The incident was reported at 6:16 pm on Tuesday evening. The Tyne and Wear Fire Service has confirmed their presence at the scene but has not provided further details about the fire’s cause. Images from the location depict the use of a fire service aerial ladder platform to position a hose for firefighting efforts. The street remains closed off between Simonside Terrace and Rothbury Terrace, with the presence of Northumbria Police also noted at the scene.
