Daniel Dubois showed incredible resilience as he overcame two knockdowns to defeat Fabio Wardley in a fierce boxing battle. Wardley started strong, flooring Dubois early on, but Dubois regrouped and began to assert his dominance with his jabs.
Dubois took control from the fourth round onwards, landing heavy blows on Wardley, whose right eye was nearly swollen shut by the ninth round. In the 11th round, Dubois delivered the finishing blows to reclaim the world champion title.
Reflecting on the intense fight, Dubois stated, “We faced challenging moments, but I proved my warrior spirit by getting back up and fighting stronger.”
Wardley, defending his heavyweight title for the first time, had previously received the belt after Oleksandr Usyk relinquished it. Dubois, aiming to become a two-time champion, fought for the first time since his defeat by Usyk.
In a dramatic entrance, Dubois, delayed by traffic, entered the ring clad in black, while Wardley sported the colors of his hometown football club, Ipswich Town. The fight saw both fighters exchanging powerful blows, with Dubois showcasing his jab and right hand effectively.
Despite facing adversity, Wardley displayed resilience throughout the fight, absorbing punishing shots from Dubois. However, Dubois’ consistent jabs and relentless pressure eventually overwhelmed Wardley, leading to the referee’s intervention in the penultimate round.
