The body of a woman dubbed the ‘Human Barbie’ is scheduled for exhumation following allegations from her family that she was murdered.
Barbara Jankavski Marquez, known as Bárbara, was discovered deceased on the night of November 2 at the residence of attorney Renato Campos Pinto De Vitto, aged 51, who confessed to engaging the 31-year-old social media influencer for intimate services. She is said to have arrived at his premises around 1 am and remained there throughout that day.
Renato stated that they consumed cocaine during their time together, and she later fell asleep beside him while watching TV, never waking up. The lawyer, who is currently on medical leave at his own request, mentioned that he contacted emergency services and administered CPR on the victim following instructions from the dispatcher, but unfortunately, she did not respond.
Emergency services arrived at the location and confirmed Bárbara’s passing at 9:07 pm the following day. Subsequently, the authorities conducted post-mortem and toxicology examinations, initially attributing her death to a sudden cardiac arrest due to excessive cocaine consumption.
However, her family disputes the cardiac arrest explanation, suspecting foul play, and have prompted prosecutors to intervene for further inquiries. They observed injuries and strangulation marks on her neck, suggestive of manual asphyxiation, but law enforcement ruled out foul play.
Following a judicial directive, the case has been transferred to the Department of Homicide and Protection of the People (DHPP), a specialized unit within the Civil Police, after initial investigation by the 7th Police District in Lapa, west of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Prosecutors have formally requested the exhumation of the deceased’s body for further scrutiny, citing the suspicious nature of the neck injuries, eye, and leg markings, as reported by NeedToKnow. They advocate for detailed examinations of the victim’s injuries and DNA analysis of her fingernails to ascertain if there was any struggle prior to her demise. The court is currently reviewing this petition.
