A disturbing video captures a man feigning victimhood after viciously stabbing a woman eight times in her residence. The gruesome incident unfolded in Ipswich, Suffolk, as Elliot Mallett, 24, forcibly entered the woman’s home.
Police bodycam footage reveals how Mallett distorted the truth, boldly alleging he was the target of a knife robbery. Mallett, residing on Hawthorn Drive in Ipswich, was convicted of attempted murder and aggravated burglary and sentenced to 30 years in prison.
The violent assault occurred on December 7, 2024, when law enforcement responded to a burglary report involving the stabbing of a woman in her 40s before 5 pm. The victim, unfamiliar with Mallett, described him drawing a knife and attacking her in various body parts before she managed to defend herself.
After seeking help from a neighbor, the victim witnessed Mallett fleeing towards a nearby park. Shortly after, officers encountered Mallett in the park, where he falsely claimed to be a victim of a knife robbery himself.
Further investigations at Mallett’s residence uncovered incriminating evidence, including items reported missing by the victim. Surveillance footage, along with the discovery of a knife with a distinct engraving near the crime scene, linked Mallett to the attack.
Forensic analysis of Mallett’s phone confirmed his presence at the victim’s house just prior to the emergency call. Despite pleading not guilty, Mallett was unanimously found guilty on both charges.
In a statement, the victim expressed the profound impact of the attack on her sense of security and well-being. Detective Chief Inspector Matt Adams emphasized the rare and extreme nature of the attack, commending the victim’s bravery in confronting her assailant.
Mallett’s lack of remorse and deceptive behavior towards the authorities underscored the severity of his actions. With a lengthy prison sentence ahead, he must reckon with the consequences of his violent actions on the victim’s life.
