Meghan Markle has been reaching out to hospitals to connect with her father, Thomas, who recently underwent emergency surgery resulting in the amputation of his leg. The Duchess of Sussex personally contacted hospitals in the Philippines to identify the facility where her father was treated. Due to a lack of current contact information, Meghan resorted to emailing her father after their fallout before her wedding in 2018.
Unfortunately, Thomas Markle is currently unreachable as he does not have access to his phone. Meghan has instructed her PR team to seek information about his whereabouts and address from journalists in contact with him, as she intends to send a handwritten letter, but no responses have been received yet.
Thomas Markle, 81, underwent a challenging operation to address a severe blood clot that necessitated the amputation of his left foot and lower leg. He remains in the intensive care unit of a hospital in Cebu, Philippines, under the care of medical professionals. According to his son, Thomas Jr., the decision for amputation was critical for his survival.
Despite Meghan’s efforts to establish communication by email, the message went unseen as it was sent to an outdated address. The strained relationship between father and daughter has persisted since their disagreement before Meghan’s marriage to Prince Harry. Meghan’s team has clarified that they are willing to forward the email to an alternative address if provided by Thomas.
A source close to Meghan criticized media reports for not verifying facts with the Duchess’ team before publication. They emphasized that a simple check of Thomas Markle’s email could have clarified the situation.
