“Rare Star Wars Lightsabers Up for Auction”

In a record-breaking auction, a lightsaber featuring Luke Skywalker’s severed hand from the movie “The Empire Strikes Back” was sold for $3.75 million USD in July. This marked the highest price ever paid for a prop used in a “Star Wars” film, as reported by the auction house.

Now, enthusiasts have the opportunity to bid on the lightsaber responsible for the iconic severing. A Darth Vader lightsaber, used in the pivotal duel in Cloud City where Vader reveals his paternity to Skywalker with the famous line “I am your father,” will be a key attraction at the upcoming Ultimate Star Wars Auction by Heritage Auctions on November 12.

The Vader lightsaber, also featured in “Return of the Jedi,” is anticipated to fetch a minimum of $1 million USD. It is just one of over twenty lightsaber props that will be available for purchase at the auction, covering the entire saga from “Star Wars” Episodes I to IX, along with props from other productions within the universe crafted by George Lucas.

Among the items up for auction are the lightsabers wielded by Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker in “Revenge of the Sith,” each expected to sell for at least $10,000 USD. Additionally, an EE-3 carbine blaster used by Boba Fett in “The Empire Strikes Back” is projected to fetch over $100,000 USD.

The auction will also feature a Yoda puppet hand used by Frank Oz in “The Empire Strikes Back,” Anthony Daniels’ signed personal third-draft screenplay for the original 1977 “Star Wars,” and a TIE Fighter pilot helmet from “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”
