“Retired Police Officer & Rugby Club Legend Among Bondi Beach Shooting Victims”

A tragic incident at Bondi Beach claimed the life of Peter Meagher, a retired police officer and a beloved figure at Randwick Rugby Club. Meagher, known as ‘Marzo,’ was one of the 15 innocent victims of the Bondi Beach shootings. Despite his nearly four-decade service in the NSW Police Force as a Detective Sergeant, he met an untimely end while working as a freelance photographer at a Hanukkah event.

The club expressed deep sorrow over the loss of Meagher, highlighting the irony of his tragic fate after years of service in law enforcement. As one of the 15 victims killed in the terror attack on December 14, Meagher’s family, deeply rooted in the club, received condolences from the club management.

Described as a legend in the club, Meagher was a pivotal figure in Randwick Rugby with a long history of voluntary contributions. His sudden passing deeply affected the club’s community and Sydney Rugby circles. The club mourned his loss, acknowledging his significant role and expressing love and grief for ‘Marzo.’

Mark Harrison, the general manager, also reflected on the targeted attack and extended support to the Jewish community. The club’s statement honored Meagher’s legacy and his family’s influential presence within the club, emphasizing the profound impact of his contributions over the years.
