SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that puts a limit on reselling event tickets above face value. According to the province’s consumer protection website, the new fines imposed on the ticket resale platform this month amount to a total of $22,500.
The first fine, totaling $15,000, is for reportedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating its sale at a price exceeding the resale limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, is for allegedly not disclosing the total ticket price when purchased from an original seller.
Both the province and SeatGeek Canada have yet to comment on the specific events linked to the fines or indicate whether the company will contest the penalties. Earlier in August, the company was fined $25,000 by the province for similar infractions.
