Naveed Akram, 24, and his father Sajid Akram, 50, are accused of opening fire on a crowd celebrating Hanukkah at a footbridge in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. Witness accounts and social media posts describe the brave efforts of individuals who tried to disarm the gunmen at the beginning of the attack, only to be fatally shot.

The tragic event also led to the identification of nine out of the fifteen victims, including a 10-year-old child named Matilda and several other individuals from different nationalities.
