“US Ambassador Condemns Israeli Settlers’ Terror”

Mike Huckabee, the U.S. ambassador to Israel, strongly criticized the actions of Israeli settlers who besieged a Palestinian American family’s home in the West Bank, labeling it as a “horrific act of terror.” Settlers have been causing unrest near the family’s residence in Qusra, engaging in intimidation and obstructing the occupants’ freedom of movement despite the Israeli military’s attempts to de-escalate the situation.

The group of settlers, consisting of numerous individuals, has resorted to stone-throwing, trying to demolish a nearby stone wall, and blocking the family from leaving, leading to a shortage of essential supplies. Qusai Abu Rida and his son, who were defending their home, were eventually relocated by the Israeli military to another house but are still confined to the area. The military has not confirmed the relocation of any residents.

Loui Ridi, the homeowner speaking from Ohio, expressed that the settlers had been targeting their Qusra property for months before the recent escalation. Huckabee condemned the settlers’ actions as acts of terror and praised the Israeli military and police for responding to remove the perpetrators.

Recent interventions by Israeli troops aimed to restore order, including dismantling illegal outposts and detaining individuals involved in the unrest. The area, located near Nablus, witnessed an influx of soldiers conducting defensive operations and patrols. Roads leading to Qusra were blocked, with both Palestinians and Israeli opposition blaming Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government for allowing settler attacks to persist.

Last month, violence erupted in the region following the killing of an Israeli settler, resulting in casualties among both Israeli soldiers and Palestinian villagers. The ongoing expansion of settler outposts in the West Bank has drawn international condemnation for undermining the prospects of a future Palestinian state. While Palestinians aspire to reclaim the West Bank as part of their territory, settlers argue for Israeli sovereignty over the region based on historical, religious, and security considerations.
