The Manitoba RCMP is investigating the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a four-year-old girl and the serious injuries sustained by two toddlers at a residence in southern Manitoba. The incident occurred at a home in Long Plain First Nation, where the Manitoba First Nations Police Service responded to a report of a young child in medical distress with injuries on Sunday morning.
Tragically, the four-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The two other children, aged one and two, were rushed to the hospital for treatment. One of the toddlers was initially in critical condition, while the other was stable. Fortunately, both children are now in stable condition.
Due to the suspicious nature of the four-year-old’s death and the severity of the injuries to the other two children, the RCMP has taken over the investigation. Supt. Rob Lasson, head of Manitoba RCMP major crime services, described the incident as deeply concerning and emphasized the community’s need for answers regarding the events that transpired in the household.
Lasson reassured the residents of Long Plain that the RCMP is collaborating closely with the Manitoba First Nations Police Service and community leadership to investigate this tragic incident.
