“Deadliest Russian Attack Near Kyiv Kills 38”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on social media that the death toll from a Russian attack on a warehouse near Kyiv has climbed to 38, making it the deadliest incident of the year. The strike, which occurred on Friday night, targeted an ammunition storage facility, resulting in extensive explosions and fires that engulfed numerous nearby structures in the village of Myla. Rescue workers are currently working to extinguish fires and locate and disarm explosive devices at the site.

Zelenskyy reported that 20 individuals sustained injuries, including two children, as a result of the attack. He labeled the incident in Myla as a tragic outcome caused by negligence on the part of those who stored explosives in close proximity to civilians. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the storage of ammunition at the site.

Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry has announced plans to launch significant strikes against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in response to Ukrainian drone operations targeting key Russian entities. The Kremlin has condemned Ukraine’s actions as escalatory and vowed a proportionate response to safeguard Russia’s civilian economy.

Furthermore, Ukraine has retaliated by targeting Russia’s major online retailer, Wildberries, and essential energy facilities, leading to a severe fuel crisis in Russia. The ongoing conflict has placed significant financial strain on Ukraine, prompting the newly appointed Defense Minister, Yevhen Khmara, to seek solutions for the substantial funding deficit inherited from his predecessor. Khmara aims to ensure that military operations are adequately funded to prevent shortages and meet essential requirements for soldiers.

In a separate development, Russian forces claim to have intercepted nearly 500 Ukrainian drones deployed overnight. Reports suggest that the drone strikes ignited a fire at a prominent oil refinery in Kirishi, resulting in significant damage. The escalating tensions have also led to casualties on both sides, with tragic incidents reported in various locations impacting innocent civilians and infrastructure.
