Renowned author George R.R. Martin recently shared an update with his fans on his blog, reflecting on the tumultuous and challenging period he has been going through. He expressed gratitude for the nine Emmy nominations received by the HBO series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” based on his work.
Acknowledging the rollercoaster of emotions he has faced, Martin mentioned dealing with loss, battling feelings of sadness and depression, and the harsh realities of aging at 77. Despite the hardships, he also highlighted the moments of joy and success, particularly the acclaim received by the TV adaptation of his novella “The Hedge Knight.”
Looking ahead, Martin expressed his desire to attend the Emmy ceremony in September. Notably missing from his update was any mention of progress on the much-awaited sixth book in his fantasy series, “The Winds of Winter.” Martin previously addressed the delays during an appearance at New York Comic Con in 2025, attributing the challenges to his struggle with meeting deadlines and contractual obligations.
