“M6 Motorway Closed After Serious Accident”

A major section of a vital highway in the United Kingdom has been closed due to a significant accident this evening. The M6 motorway is currently shut in the northbound direction between Junction 1 for Rugby and Junction 2 for Coventry and the M69. National Highways has officially stated that the closure is a result of a serious collision and anticipates that the road will remain inaccessible for an extended period.

Emergency services, including Warwickshire Police and National Highways Traffic Officers, are present at the site to manage the situation. According to the West Midlands Regional Operations Centre, the closure of the M6 is necessary for ongoing accident investigations that are expected to last several hours.

A report earlier in the evening highlighted a serious collision between Junction 1 and 2 on the M6, prompting National Highways to divert traffic off the northbound lanes at the Rugby exit. The closure is expected to persist for several hours as investigations and traffic management continue.

National Highways has established a diversion route for affected travelers, guiding them to follow the Hollow Triangle diversion symbols on road signs. The route includes taking the A426 northbound at M6 J1, continuing to the A5 junction, then proceeding westbound on A5 to M69 J1, and finally returning southbound on M69 to reach M6 J2.

Travelers are advised to plan alternative routes and allocate extra time for their journeys due to the ongoing road closure. Additional information can be accessed on the National Highways website, travel apps, or through their regional updates. For immediate assistance, individuals can contact the highways authority’s 24/7 contact center at 0300 123 5000.
