A TikTok influencer, known for his online pranks, physically assaulted a shopper in a store, displaying aggressive behavior likened to that of a wild animal.
Gavin Davies, aged 38, was labeled a “monster” by the victim of his attack at a local shop in Merthyr Tydfil on August 14. Davies, who had recently been released from prison and become engaged, was under the influence of alcohol at the time, according to court proceedings.
Operating on TikTok under the alias Ruthless Roofers with over 31,000 followers, the defendant frequently shares prank videos on social media, including staged collapses in restaurants, canal dives, and playing pool with a crutch.
During a sentencing session at Cardiff Crown Court, it was disclosed that the victim and his stepdaughter were present in the shop when Davies stormed in, causing havoc and vocally expressing a desire to return to prison.
The altercation escalated when Davies attempted to physically attack the shopkeeper, prompting the victim to intervene and instruct Davies to leave. Subsequently, Davies aggressively assaulted the victim by repeatedly punching and biting him on the nose, as reported by WalesOnline.
The scuffle led to both individuals falling to the ground, with Davies continuing to assault the victim while causing further damage to items within the shop. Following the incident, Davies exited the store, leaving the victim with injuries, including persistent wrist and thumb pain.
In a statement provided by the victim, he expressed the significant impact of the attack on him and his family, describing Davies as a “menace” and recalling the harrowing experience during the assault. The victim expressed fear for his life during the ordeal, stating, “I believed it was my final moments.”
Davies later pleaded guilty to charges of assault causing bodily harm, affray, and criminal damage. In his defense, his lawyer, Jeffrey Jones, attributed the incident to Davies’ intoxication following his release from prison and recent engagement.
Jones mentioned that Davies had been involved in a prior altercation before entering the shop, which contributed to his agitated state. Following the shop incident, Davies was engaged in another altercation where he was at a disadvantage.
Describing Davies as a person with a commendable work ethic, Jones highlighted his client’s charitable contributions and participation in philanthropic activities, including a charity football match. During sentencing, Judge Paul Hobson condemned Davies’ actions as deplorable, emphasizing his violent behavior and likening it to that of a wild animal. Davies was sentenced to 20 months in prison and received a five-year restraining order.
