“Nurse in Germany Faces Charges for Multiple Assaults”

A male nurse in Dortmund, Germany, aged 32, faces charges related to multiple sexual assaults on patients, one of whom was reportedly just 14 years old. The accusations include raping five patients between April 2017 and August 2025, with four female victims and one male. The ages of the victims are reported as 14, 28, 35, and 43, while the age of the fifth victim remains undisclosed.

According to a spokesperson for Essen regional court, four of the alleged assaults occurred while the victims were in a medically induced coma or under general anesthesia. However, the incident involving the 14-year-old girl reportedly took place while she was conscious. The court spokesperson emphasized that the patients were vulnerable and unconscious during the assaults.

It is further alleged that the nurse filmed some of the acts, which came to light during a police raid on his residence in July. The raid was initially related to suspicions of possessing child pornography, leading to the discovery of images and videos taken at the hospital, prompting a broader investigation.

Three of the reported rapes took place at Essen University Hospital, with another incident at a separate healthcare facility. The nurse had worked across various hospitals in the North Rhine-Westphalia region, including Munster, Gelsenkirchen, and Bochum, having obtained positions through a temporary employment agency. He also held a part-time role at Dortmund Hospital.

Following the search operation, authorities seized electronic devices containing significant data volume, leading to the nurse’s arrest. The public prosecutor’s office has filed charges against him, including four counts of rape, two instances of sexual abuse, and possession and distribution of child pornography.

Despite presenting a clean criminal record upon employment, the nurse’s actions have shocked Essen University Hospital. German law protects the suspect’s identity under the ‘General Right of Personality’ constitutional provision, limiting information disclosure by law enforcement except in specific circumstances.
