Sir Chris Hoy sustained a leg injury in a serious cycling accident while contending with prostate cancer. “I’ve injured my leg badly on the mountain bike, which is the worst recent incident,” Hoy shared with Sky Sports. Despite being on crutches and hobbling, he aims to be more mobile by the time of the darts final on January 3.
Having been riding bikes for over four decades, Hoy considers this crash the most severe he has experienced. Reflecting on the incident, he emphasized the importance of living life to the fullest despite risks. Hoy, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer in September 2023, has been undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
Regarding his cancer diagnosis, Hoy stated, “After the initial grim diagnosis over two years ago, responding positively to treatment has led to a period of stability, though there are ups and downs that may require changing treatments.” He expressed optimism about ongoing research efforts for new cancer treatments.
As one of Britain’s most decorated Olympians with six gold medals, Hoy’s achievements are widely recognized. Additionally, he has been supporting his wife, who was diagnosed with MS in the lead-up to Christmas 2023. Lady Hoy initially kept her diagnosis private after experiencing specific symptoms.
