“People’s Postcode Lottery Faces Backlash Over Ticket Price Increase”

People’s Postcode Lottery has recently increased the price of its tickets, eliciting a negative response from players. The monthly subscription cost has gone up from £12.25 to £12.50, marking the third price hike by the lottery. Previously, the price was raised from £12 to £12.25 in the past year and from £10 to £12 in 2023. Disgruntled players have voiced their dissatisfaction on TrustPilot, with one individual questioning the necessity of yet another price increase.

Expressing concerns over the continuous rise in prices, another player mentioned feeling disheartened by the escalating costs, suggesting that it may reach £13 soon, making the experience less enjoyable and more disappointing each month. In response to the complaints, People’s Postcode Lottery stated that the upcoming price increase will result in the largest prize pool ever, offering more opportunities for players to win across various draws, emphasizing their commitment to keeping the prize structure engaging for all participants.

The increased ticket price will be effective for the April 2026 draw, as already indicated on the lottery’s website. The Mirror has reached out to People’s Postcode Lottery for further comments. Participants in the lottery are assigned tickets based on their postcodes, entering them into daily, weekly, and monthly draws with prizes such as daily £1,000 wins for 20 postcodes, a shared £1 million Saturday prize, and monthly prizes of £250,000 or more.

The People’s Postcode Lottery, established in 2005, has raised over £1 billion for numerous charities with millions of players participating. In a recent heartwarming story, a woman named Gail Wood, 54, discovered she had won £144,000 from the lottery while recovering from major surgery. The unexpected win, providing her with £12,000 monthly for a year, came as a life-changing surprise, contrasting her initial fear of not surviving the surgery. Gail’s experience underscores the unpredictable and transformative nature of winning in the People’s Postcode Lottery.
