Pep Guardiola’s spouse has reportedly moved out of their family residence following the extension of the Manchester City manager’s contract, which went against their agreement to start a new life abroad. Reports suggest that their marriage has been strained for the last 18 months, with sources indicating that Guardiola had minimal communication with his wife.
Cristina Serra, who tied the knot with the City head coach in 2014 after a relationship dating back to 1994, relocated to Barcelona in 2019 to focus on her fashion business, Serra Claret. Despite shuttling between Spain and England to be with her husband during his successful tenure at City, Serra decided in September 2024 not to return to England after their planned move to the United Arab Emirates fell through.
The renewal of Guardiola’s contract, binding him to the Etihad until 2027, seemingly acted as the final blow to his marriage, although there were hints of potential future reconciliation. A recent segment on Antena 3’s program, Y Ahora Sonsoles, featured Lorena Vazquez, a Mamarazzis presenter, who disclosed additional details.
Vazquez revealed that Serra has left their home in Pedralbes to relocate to a different property in the Eixample area. Describing the modest property Serra purchased in October, Vazquez commented that it was a more humble choice compared to what she could have afforded. Vazquez also implied that Guardiola and Serra might maintain a friendly relationship without romantic involvement going forward.
While earlier speculations suggested a chance for reconciliation if Guardiola were to return to Barcelona and leave his position at City, the official documentation of their split is pending. It appears that Guardiola may only rekindle his relationship with Serra if he permanently departs from the Premier League.
