Britain Braces for -7 Polar Freeze & Snowstorm

New weather reports indicate that a -7 Polar freeze is set to hit various parts of Britain, bringing extremely cold temperatures. Britons are preparing for icy weather conditions and potential snowfall across many regions. The latest weather maps show a significant snowstorm spanning approximately 663 miles from Wick to Ipswich on December 19 and 20, just days before Christmas.

The wintry weather is expected to commence with snowfall in the Scottish Highlands around midnight on December 19. By 6am, areas like Aberdeen and Portree could see up to eight inches of snow accumulation. Subsequently, cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, and Perth are likely to experience freezing temperatures ranging from -3 to -2 degrees Celsius.

As the snowfall progresses southward, locations including Newcastle, York, the Yorkshire Dales, Middlesbrough, and Carlisle are anticipated to be covered in snow. These areas are forecasted to reach lows of 2 degrees Celsius. According to the Met Office’s extended forecast from December 9 to 18, western regions are expected to face unsettled conditions with the possibility of heavy rain and strong winds.

While specific details for Christmas Day are not yet available from the Met Office, recent odds suggest an increased likelihood of a white Christmas in various UK cities. Bookmakers are optimistic about snowfall, especially in northern regions and higher elevations, following the Met Office’s long-range forecast predicting multiple snow showers.
