Former Doctor Faces 38 Charges, Including Child Assault

A former doctor, Nathaniel Spencer, aged 38, has been accused of committing a series of sexual offenses against 38 patients, including a child under the age of 13. The alleged offenses are said to have taken place between 2017 and 2021. Spencer faces a total of 15 charges of sexual assault and 17 charges of assault by penetration.

In addition, Spencer is charged with nine counts of sexual assault on a child under 13, three counts of assaulting a child under 13 by penetration, and one count of attempted assault by penetration. Following an investigation by Staffordshire Police, Spencer, who resides in Birmingham, was apprehended. The investigation focused on incidents at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Ben Samples, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the West Midlands CPS Complex Casework Unit and Serious Violence, Organised Crime, and Exploitation Unit, stated that Spencer is facing prosecution for several serious sexual offenses purportedly committed against patients while he was practicing as a doctor. The charges include assault by penetration and sexual assault on a child. Prosecutors collaborated closely with Staffordshire Police to assess the evidence thoroughly and determine that there is enough proof to proceed with the case. They concluded that pursuing criminal charges is in the public interest.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at North Staffordshire Justice Centre on January 20 next year.
