“Former British Detectives Investigate Son’s Suspicious Death in Spain”

A mother has enlisted the services of two former British detectives to look into the suspected murder of her son in Spain. Sam Hutchinson and Emma Coles from Verity Henton Private Investigations have taken on the case of Brett Dryden, 35, who was discovered deceased in July of the previous year. Sandra Adams, Brett’s mother, is advocating for a re-examination of the police inquiry into her son’s death in Mojacar, Costa de Almeria, where he operated a legal cannabis club known as The Dawg House.

Former Essex Police anti-corruption officers, Ms. Hutchinson, 57, and Ms. Coles, 41, established their investigative agency in April 2020. Recent developments revealed that a Home Office pathologist, following a post mortem on Brett’s remains, contradicted the findings of a Spanish pathologist. The initial Spanish post mortem attributed Brett’s death to pulmonary hemorrhage, with traces of cocaine and cannabis found in his system. However, the new report disputes this, highlighting discrepancies and signs of physical assault on Brett’s body.

Dr. Cooper, an honorary consultant at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, challenged the Spanish pathologist’s conclusions, noting inconsistencies and injuries consistent with an assault. Sandra is pushing for a fresh investigation after receiving a Spanish police report containing CCTV footage showing two unidentified individuals fleeing Brett’s residence with cash and marijuana. Despite these revelations, the case was temporarily closed in September due to insufficient evidence of foul play.

Sandra, dissatisfied with the official report, visited the location of her son’s death to seek closure and justice. Verity Henton Private Investigations, based in Central London’s Mayfair and Essex, with over 100 personnel, including its founders known as “spy mums,” was approached for comments on their involvement in the ongoing investigation. The agency’s founders, Sam Hutchinson and Emma Coles, were featured on ITV’s This Morning in 2022.
